How to Add Custom After Post Widgets in WordPress

Widgets can be described as sidebars on the WordPress theme. You can drag or drop any widget in the WordPress theme. You could find widgets appearing at the footer or at the sidebar. Registration of widget is also possible but for doing it, it requires code to be tweaked. But on the brighter side, there are also easier methods for beginners as they do not need to work with codes.

The most important thing that is to be done is the installation and activation once widget is added once plugin of content is added. Once you have done the activation, you can check the widget screen under appearance. Here, you could find a new widget which is known as after content.

Once you have completed the work, you can see the posts on your website and below your posts, you could see the widgets. The solution is perfect and works on theme frameworks such as Thesis, Headway Themes, Genesis and much more.

Some of the WordPress plugins such as list for email building, author bio, and sharing plugins do give options of the users to get their widgets added without depending on using the solutions.

Types of Custom Post in WordPress

  • Post
  • Revision
  • Page
  • Attachment
  • Navigation Menu.

You can create own custom type and you can name them any as your wish. One such example is that creation of a post for movie review. Such post could even have own structure for category for custom and having various fields for custom. Some other examples of such include products, testimonials, portfolio and much more.

Having an easier way of creating a custom post

By using a plugin you can create a custom post. This is basically suggested for beginners as it is very easy and safe.

The first option you need to plan to do is to installation and getting the plugin known as user interface for custom post being activated. Once it is activated, plugin in the new menu in the WordPress add into a menu in the WordPress admin called User Interface CPT.

Then you can go the option to add new plugin under User Interface CPT.  You can even make taxonomies as customized.

Under new post known as Add New post, each page is divided into columns that are two types. On the left side, you can fill details that are used to add custom post. On the right side, you can add taxonomy customized if required.

In the column that is custom post, you can add a name that is custom type. The name cannot exceed more than characters of 20. Some of the examples include deal, movies, recipe, glossary etc.

In the available field, you can add label for the custom post. The label does appear on the admin side of the WordPress such as pages and posts.  To make sense, it does need to be plural such as deals, recipes, movies, glossary etc.

You can add to the label as a singular form. This is used in the WordPress to display instructions and as interface for user element.

Finally enter a description for the post that is custom type. It is used to describe what the post actually does.

Then you can click on the button that is used to create custom post. You can then also add on options for advanced level to make options for customized for your custom type.

Getting the post customized manually

wordpressOnce the plugin is deactivated, the plugin on the custom post does disappear. The data that is available on these custom types remains there, but the problem is that type for custom post remains unregistered and cannot be accessed from the admin side.

Suppose you are working from the client side and you do not wish to install an additional plugin, you can add a manual one by creating a post that is custom type. This is done by adding a code under a theme under a file such as functons.php or under a site for specified plugin.

Getting your widget customized

You can get your area for widget to be turned off if you do not want to get your widget area displayed once a specific post is displayed.

You need to edit the place where you do not wish the widget not to be displayed. At the screen available for posting, you can find the metabox known as Widget for after content. Once a particular post is displayed, you need to uncheck the option next to Yes to make the display of the area for widget.

You require initially plugins and for that you need skills such as CSS. Themes are handled by widget and there are many kinds of. Once widget for control is made it is available on the desktop.
